2012, World Telecommunication Operator Commitments NFC


Technology Near Field Communication (NFC) was interesting enough attention telecommunications industry. In fact, many operators are committed to implementing it.

Launched by Cellular News, Tuesday (02.22.2011), telecom operators have been many who declare their commitment poured NFC technology. Some of the operators in question is America Movil, Axiata Group Berhad, Bharti, China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, KT Corporation, MTS, People, Qtel Group, Softbank Mobile, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telekom Austria Group, Telenor and Vodafone.

Many operators that are committed to commercializing the NFC service in certain countries in 2012.

"Perhaps better known as the NFC mobile payment technology. But in fact the application has a feature that is much greater than just a mobile payment," said GSMA Chairman and also CEO of Telecom Italia, Franco Bernabe.

According to Bernabe, NFC represents a significant innovation opportunities, and will facilitate service and broader applications for the consumer, such as the provision of tickets, mobile coupons, exchange of information and content, controlling access to a car, house, hotel, car park, and others from a distance far.

In addition, according to data from Frost & Sullivan, the total value of payment transactions via NFC globally will reach 110 billion euros in 2015. Therefore all the operators attempt to make mobile NFC standardization using SIM cards as a safe device for providing authentication, security and portability.

To unify these devices, the GSMA will develop testing and certification standards to ensure interoperability of NFC services in the world. This interoperability is deemed important enough to spread the adoption of NFC, both from the network operator and the type of device.

"As we see, when this new NFC can be enjoyed in a particular market. By bringing together and collaborate on standardization of mobile NFC ecosystem overall, our industry will be able to continue to develop services according to customer needs," said Bernabe.
